This was our last flying day. We departed Page very early in the morning. We wanted to get to Concord (class Delta airport east of San Francisco) before 3 P.M. to be able to rent a car as the rental company at the airport was only open until then. We flew over Zion National Park then stopped in Tonopah for fuel (according to AOPA Airport Directory there is no fuel on weekends, but it is not true, they are open every day). In Tonopah I switched the seat with Vince and he was flying the remaining part of the trip to Concord (San Francisco). Although we climb to quite save 14,000 feet crossing Sierra Mountains near Mammoth was still quite memorable experience.
After landing at Concord (apart from our “home” John Wayne airport that was the busiest and the only controlled airport that we landed at during the whole trip) we picked-up the car, got all our staff from the plane.
It was the time to say goodbye to the N8771Z that we spent the last 3 weeks with almost every day.
Vince stayed with us the night and the next day flew alone back to Santa Ana. Marta and I spent the whole day visiting San Francisco, which we found the best out of all cities that we visited in the U.S. so far. The following 2 days we spent on travelling (by car) back to Los Angeles on route 1, which was yet another unforgettable experience.
